Playful Adornment is a project that investigates how the act of dressing up – from childhood play to conscious self-expression—can inform sophisticated accessory design. Through beading, domestic knitting and experimental 'scribble' sampling, this project translates playful, tactile motifs into refined wearable pieces that evoke joy and nostalgia.

It's a very fine line | Knitted belts and ribbons - yellow crown with beading, pink crown with beading, picot trim, white beaded belt | Striped knitted ribbons | Beaded strings and crocheted sequin strings
In context | Lily playing dress up, styled and photographed by me, wearing as many pieces as she could.
Start with a scribble | I begin by scribbling on as many pages as I can using crayons, pencils and alcohol pens in my colour palette. This action actually informs a lot of my practice and is a good tool for me when it comes to colour, composition and seeing whats missing. None of them are perfect and they don’t have any meaning, it takes the pressure off.
These pieces are constructed primarily with mercerised cottons on a 12-gauge Dubied machine.
